LAB SUPERVISOR – Chromatography Products and Services

Chiral Technologies, Inc., the global leader in chiral chromatography, supplies the pharmaceutical and related industries with advanced chiral chromatography products and services. We currently have an opportunity available for an Analytical Chemist in our state-of-the-art facility in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The position will report to the Director of Technology and will be responsible for method development support of preparative separation services, column selection services and contract analytical method development services as follows:

  • Supervise and oversee operations in the Method Development lab, including both contract services and internal R&D projects.
  • Provide support to preparative method development projects requiring sophisticated non-routine analytical technology.
  • Perform column selection service using HPLC and SFC, ensure detailed electronic documenting of the outcome of column selection projects, and prepare column selection reports.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all equipment used to perform column selection service and evaluate and recommend new HPLC equipment and capital purchases.
  • Determine customers’ specific requirements and expectations with respect to contract analytical method development projects and assess the feasibility of potential projects.
  • Prepare contract analytical method development project proposals.
  • Perform contract projects using HPLC and SFC, maintain detailed electronic files documenting body of results generated and prepare preliminary and/or final customer reports.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all equipment used for analytical method development projects, and ensure that equipment is adequate to these needs.
  • Present technical papers at major chromatography and scientific conferences and prepare and present technical papers, application notes, workshops, training seminars, etc. in support of Sales and Marketing.
  • Provide technical support to customers on chiral method development and use of our products.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry or related fields, with a focus on analytical and/or organic chemistry
  • Experience with chiral chromatography preferred
  • Broad hands-on experience in all areas of liquid chromatography (at least five years’ experience)
  • Good knowledge of chromatography theory
  • Thorough understanding of the requirements of current analytical chromatography and method development in the areas of drug development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
