Business Development Manager – Pharma Services / Pharma Standards

 CHIRAL TECHNOLOGIES, INC., the global leader in chiral chromatography, supplies the pharmaceutical and related industries with advanced chiral chromatography products and services. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented sales professional to get in on the ground floor of our new area of business. We have an opportunity for a creative, technical and entrepreneurial individual to take on the role of Business Development Manager – Pharma Services / Pharma Standards.

The position will report to the Vice President of Sales and will be responsible for developing and growing lab products and bioprocess solutions (consumables) sales, market share and awareness of our Biopharma business in the US. End-users are scientists and managers in R&D, process development, pilot and production in the biotech and biopharma industries. Candidate will operate out of a home office anywhere in the continental US. Territory will include the Americas and European Regions


Responsible for business development in the US and European region for Daicel Pharma Services and Daicel Pharma Standards offering from Daicel Chiral Technologies India (DCTI), Hyderabad, India. Services and products available to the pharmaceutical industry include, but are not limited to GMP Analytical Services, Purification Services, Peptide Services, Impurity Standards and stable isotope labeled standards.


  • Promote Daicel Pharma Services (prime focus on GMP analytical services) to branded pharma, generic pharma, CRO, and CMO companies in primarily in the US and moderately in the EU region and develop Key Accounts for sustainable business growth
  • Frequent interaction with customers and potential customers via conference calls, onsite visits or trade shows. Openly communicate with DCTI project management team to ensure effective cooperation and collaboration with customers.
  • Promote Daicel Pharma Standards (prime focus on Impurity standards) to multiple generic pharma companies in the US & EU region
  • Pursue custom impurity synthesis projects from multiple generic pharma companies in the US & EU region
  • Establish distribution network for Impurity standards and stable isotope labeled internal standards in the US & EU region
  • Align with CTI’s work culture by closely working with CT’s sales & marketing team
  • Collaborate with marketing team to develop region appropriate collateral and website content


  • Exceptional technical skills, scientific acumen and analytical abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of the pharma services (GMP Analytical Services) and pharma standards (Impurity Standards) business
  • Proven success in building brand recognition and customer relationships through business development
  • Well-developed sense of business acumen with a proven track record in negotiating and closing business and prior success in establishing “win-win” relationships
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Must be customer focused with proven ability to develop and maintain relationships
  • Must be results driven
  • Independent performer with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in using computer and database software, i.e. Word, PowerPoint, CRM, and Excel
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Willing to travel overnight up to 50%


Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related life sciences field (Advanced degree preferred)


  • 5+ years’ Sales experience in related field with background in related science field. Technical and sales experience should total 7 – 10 years
  • Prior experience as a scientist in Analytical field preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience selling GMP Analytical services to pharmaceutical companies preferred
