CUSTOMER CARE SPECIALIST

CHIRAL TECHNOLOGIES, INC. currently has an exciting opportunity for a Customer Care Specialist.  This position will be based at our subsidiary location, Arbor Biosciences, located in Ann Arbor MI.

The Customer Care Specialist will provide customer service in an environment of teamwork, efficiency, cross training and continuous improvement. The Customer Care Specialist will support the sales team, respond to customer needs in a prompt, effective and professional manner and ensure the customer’s needs are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of:
    • CTI’s product offerings
    • Sage 100 ERP – CRM, Sales order, purchasing, accounts receivable and inventory
  • Provide timely and accurate quotes for sales team
  • Accurately process sales orders from origin through shipment, paying special attention to international shipments requiring high level of detail
  • Work within a team to accurately process customer orders (quotes, invoicing, packaging and shipping) and communicate order/project status via phone and e-mail
  • Operate as the point of contact between customers and sales representatives to streamline communications
  • Provide phone based support to answer and resolve a wide variety of customer inquiries
  • Document outcomes and steps taken when dealing with uncommon or challenging issues in applicable databases
  • Update customer files and databases in Sage CRM and Sage 100 and others as required
  • Perform routine clerical and shipping duties (e.g. filing customer invoices, recording, logging, preparing records) as required
  • Share responsibility for Monthly Inventory Counts and Inventory Purchasing

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to work well within a small company culture
  • Must be a team player
  • Demonstrate a high level of ethical professionalism and discretion
  • Possess exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possess strong problem solving skills
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities with attention to detail
  • Very proficient in all Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Experience with Sage 100 Accounting software and Sage CRM preferred but not required

EDUCATION:

Associate’s degree in business related field

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years of customer service or inside sales support experience
  • DOT training in shipment of hazardous goods preferred, but not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and work efficiently in a fast paced environment

Production Chemist

CHIRAL TECHNOLOGIES, INC. currently has an exciting opportunity for a technically innovative individual to take on the role of Production Chemist.  This position will be based at our subsidiary location, Arbor Biosciences, located in Ann Arbor MI.

The position will report to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for all operations related to separation service, chiral and achiral column production and Diffinity RapidTip25 and RapidTip50 production.  The chemist will be responsible for final quality check of the separations products and columns manufactured and communicating all raw material needs for production.

This position will be based in Ann Arbor Michigan.  However, initial training will take place in West Chester, Pennsylvania.  Applicants must be able to commit to a 3-4 week training period in West Chester, PA. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct custom separations projects using preparative equipment and custom packed columns
  • Manufacture columns according to in-house specifications and schedule
  • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment to ensure good working order
  • Schedule necessary repair or periodic maintenance service for all production-related and ancillary equipment
  • Maintain raw material inventory for column and Diffinity tip production
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies for production
  • Maintain spare and critical parts for all equipment

Periodic Responsibilities

  • Weekly inspection of hazardous waste area
  • Perform raw material inventory for column production and separation services chemical inventory and report results
  • Perform solvent inventory for separation service and report results
  • Create and submit monthly report for column and tip production
  • Biannually perform data, method and sequence backup of all column testing units

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to multitask while maintaining high level of attention to quality and safety
  • Experience in equipment troubleshooting
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Some understanding of liquid chromatography is preferred
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be attentive to detail and have strong organizational skills in a fast paced environment

EDUCATION:

Minimum:  Associate Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

Preferred:  B.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 – 3 years of general lab experience is required
  • 2 – 3 years of relevant experience in chiral preparative chromatography is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to move a full 55-gallon solvent drum.
  • Much of the lab work is conducted while standing
  • Must be willing and able to wear protective safety gear as required
  • Maintain lab and equipment to specified standards, regularly perform laboratory housekeeping duties

Specialized equipment includes:

  • Analytical HPLC and SFC units
  • Preparative HPLC units
  • Column packing equipment
  • Custom Tip Production Unit
