Chiral Technologies Introduces CHIRALPAK® IG – The Newest Addition to Daicel’s Immobilised Meta Chiral Selectors

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (May 9, 2016) — Chiral Technologies announces the availability of a new immobilised chiral stationary phase (CSP), CHIRALPAK® IG, a meta-substituted phenyl carbamate of amylose. This new selector joins CHIRALPAK IA, CHIRALPAK IB, and CHIRALPAK IC (also Meta selectors) to form the most effective family of four columns for use as a primary screening set.

Our data shows that the combination of CHIRALPAK IG, CHIRALPAK IA, IB, and IC yields the highest success rate of any four immobilised chiral chromatography columns. When used with CHIRALPAK ID, IE, and IF as a complementary set for secondary screening, chromatographers will find excellent chiral separations provided by the robust immobilised columns to ensure the highest success with the longest column lifetime.

The Meta immobilised columns offer mechanistic advantages in chiral recognition, higher success rates using fewer columns, and are known for their robustness and extended column life.

“We are proud to offer this new column to customers as a way to simplify their chiral method development work, and increase their success rate” said Joe Barendt, Ph.D., President of Chiral Technologies, Inc.

Chiral Technologies Europe will showcase CHIRALPAK IG at Analytica 2016 – Hall A1 –  Stand 225.

Chiral Technologies, Inc. Partners with GreenCentre to Commercialize a New Catalyst Platform for Fine Chemical Synthesis

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (April 28, 2016) — Chiral Technologies, Inc. and GreenCentre Canada are pleased to announce an agreement to jointly commercialize a powerful new catalyst platform technology for synthesis of fine chemicals, including pharmaceuticals and fragrance products.

Under this agreement, Chiral Technologies and GreenCentre will jointly introduce this new technology into a wide array of potential customers, assess the market interest, and develop a marketing and sales plan to grow this product line to a commercial success.

“GreenCentre is very pleased to partner with an international leader in enantioselective chromatography offering a wide range of chiral stationary phases and columns,” said Pete Pigott, Executive Director of GreenCentre Canada. “Chiral Technologies’ established distribution channels into the pharmaceutical industry are truly global in nature and will allow GreenCentre unprecedented access to these markets.”

The fine chemical industry relies on specialized metal-based catalysts that are highly selective and versatile. However, the use of these catalysts often results in excess waste and a lack of catalyst re-usability. More industrially attractive is the use of “flow” reaction systems in which the catalyst is physically attached to a solid support.

To address this challenge, GreenCentre has been commercializing a technology that allows complex metal-based homogeneous catalysts to be effectively used in flow reactor systems. Originally invented by Professor Steve Bergens at the University of Edmonton, the system allows expensive, metal-based catalysts to be attached for use in flow reactor systems. Recent results from industrially sponsored projects have demonstrated an unprecedented level of catalyst activity and re-use, making the technology highly attractive for the manufacture of pharmaceutical compounds.

“Chiral Technologies is excited to be involved in this collaboration with GreenCentre Canada and the University of Alberta.  This technology has the potential to make a profound change in our customers’ approach to selective catalysis,” said Joe Barendt, Ph.D., President of Chiral Technologies.
